Amarillo Bulls News Release

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Bulls, proud members of the North American Hockey League, bolstered their offense with the acquisition of forward Gage Christianson.

Christianson, a native of Anchorage Alaska, was picked up from the Johnstown Tomahawks during the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota. It didn't take long for Christianson to make his way into the line-up for the Bulls as he suited in the final game against the Springfield Jr. Blues. The 5-8,175 pound forward accounted himself very well by nearly scoring on a couple of chances, and helping to set up the eventual winning goal early in the third period.

Bulls Head Coach Dennis Williams said it's going to take a little bit for Gage to get acclimated with the team, but already he liked what he saw.

"He's going to give us the depth in scoring and add to our power play," Williams said. "He is a proven goal scorer and he was among the league's top 25 scorers last year. He's a good player and a good guy. For us to be able to acquire him at the Showcase, just goes to show how excited we are about our program and where we want to be when the end of the season comes."

In 2011-2012, Christianson played in the West Division for the Alaska Avalanche and notched 16 goals and 37 assists for 53 points in 59 games. He scored three power play goals and added 109 shots on goal.

Fans will get their first glimpse on home ice of Gage Christianson and the Amarillo Bulls next Saturday, Sept. 29 when they face the Odessa Jackalopes in their home opener. Game time is set for 7 pm and prior to puck drop there will be a large tailgate party with refreshments, food and music. When fans head inside to the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center they will see more banners get raised to the rafters to celebrate a memorable 2011-2012 season.

Single game tickets are on sale and can be purchased at the Bulls Office located at 301 South Polk, Civic Center Box Office and all Panhandle Ticket Outlets.
