Bulls announce rotation for Finals

Durham, NC - After sweeping the Toledo Mud Hens in three games, the Durham Bulls today announced their starting rotation for the Governors' Cup Finals against the Richmond Braves would remain the same as the first round. Left-hander J.P. Howell will take the mound for the Bulls in Game One on Tuesday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park followed by right-handers Jeff Niemann and Jae Seo on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

Howell (7-8, 0-0) pitched five and two-thirds innings in Game One against Toledo, allowing seven runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out nine. During the regular season, he led the Bulls starting pitchers with a 3.38 ERA and 145 strikeouts.

Niemann (12-6, 1-0) lasted only five innings against Toledo in Game Two, but picked up the win allowing only two runs on five hits and four walks. He was the Bulls Pitcher of the Year this season, tying for the team lead with 12 wins. The right-hander entered the 2007 season as the top pitching prospect in the Devil Rays organization and represented the Bulls in the Major League Baseball Futures Game in July.

Seo (9-4, 0-0) produced the best outing of the trio in Game Three, pitching seven innings and allowing two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts. He joined the Bulls in June and posted the second best ERA (3.64) among the Bulls' starting rotation.

The Bulls have not announced starters for Games Four and Five. Durham and Richmond meet for Games One and Two of the Governors' Cup Finals on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Tickets are available at www.durhambulls.com or by phone at (919) 956-BULL.
