Bulldogs pen point-producer Eric Manlow

July 10, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

The Hamilton Bulldogs announced today the signing of centre Eric Manlow to a two-year American Hockey League contract. As per club policy, financial terms of the deal are not disclosed.

Selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2nd round (50th overall) in the 1993 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Manlow, 31, is a veteran of 11 seasons of professional hockey. Following four years in the Ontario Hockey League with the Kitchener Rangers and Detroit Jr. Red Wings, the Belleville, Ontario native turned pro prior to the 1995-1996 season. Since then, Manlow has played for the NHL's Boston Bruins and New York Islanders, the AHL's Baltimore Bandits, Providence Bruins, Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Grand Rapids Griffins, the now defunct International Hockey League's Indianapolis Ice and Long Beach Ice Dogs, and the ECHL's Columbus Chill and Florida Everblades.

The 6'0", 205 pound, left-handed centre has spent the last two seasons with the Hamilton Bulldogs' North Division rival, the Grand Rapids Griffins. In 2005-2006, Manlow skated in all 80 regular season games for MacGregor Kilpatrick Trophy-winning Grand Rapids, and with 25 goals, 48 assists, and 73 points, he finished third on the Griffins, and tied for 17th in the American Hockey League in scoring.

"We are thrilled to have been able to acquire a player the calibre of Eric Manlow", said Hamilton Bulldogs Majority Owner, Chairman and Governor Michael Andlauer. "As a proven point producer, and a great leader, we are confident that Eric will not only help the Bulldogs win hockey games, but will also assist in the development of the talented group of Montreal Canadiens prospects playing in Hamilton". Andlauer added, "Both our local ownership group, and the Montreal Canadiens are committed to making the Hamilton Bulldogs a winner - both on, and off the ice, and the addition of Eric Manlow has helped us to take yet another step in the right direction".

In operation since 1936, the American Hockey League is the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. Over 80 percent of NHL players are AHL graduates, and more than 350 AHL players were recalled to the NHL during the 2005-2006 season alone.

You can see tomorrow's NHL stars develop their skills in the AHL by purchasing 2006-2007 Hamilton Bulldogs season tickets today! Prices start at just $11 per game. For more information, please call 905-529-8500, or visit www.hamiltonbulldogs.com.
