
Bulldogs Add Two to Training Camp Roster

The Hamilton Bulldogs announced today the addition of two players to their training camp roster. The Montreal Canadiens have reassigned goaltender Jaroslav Halak to Hamilton, while the Edmonton Oilers have loaned forward Zach Stortini to the Bulldogs.
Halak, 21, played in Montreal$B!G(Bs preseason game at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Friday, September 22nd. The Bratislava, Slovakia native replaced starter Yann Danis with 10:30 left in the second period, and made nine saves on 11 shots. Halak appeared in 13 games with Hamilton last season, posting three shutouts, a record of 7-6-0 with a 2.29 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage.
Stortini, a 21-year-old native of Sudbury, Ontario, skated in two preseason games with the Edmonton Oilers last week (September 18th and 21st), recording two shots and 11 penalty minutes. In 2005-2006, Stortini posted 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) and 261 penalty minutes in 57 games with the AHL$B!G(Bs Milwaukee Admirals and Iowa Stars.
The Hamilton Bulldogs opened their 11th annual training camp today at the newly-renovated Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena, located at 25 Hester Street on Hamilton Mountain. Training camp will run until Thursday, October 5th, 2006. All on-ice training camp sessions will be open to the public. In operation since 1936, the American Hockey League is the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. Over 80 percent of NHL players are AHL graduates, and more than 350 AHL players were recalled to the NHL during the 2005-2006 season alone.
