Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League today announced that in order to complete two trades from the 2009-10 season, the rights to forwards Joe Ori and Adam Basford and defenseman Scott Kalinchuk have been sent elsewhere in the CHL.
Ori and Basford become the future considerations owed to the Arizona Sundogs in the trade that brought forward Tyler Liebel to the Mudbugs last August. Kalinchuk heads to Rapid City to fulfill the December deal in which Bossier-Shreveport acquired defenseman Clay Plume from the Rush for Kirk Medernach and future considerations.
In his fourth year with the 'Bugs last season, Ori scored five goals and added 13 assists for a total of 18 points in 38 games. The 28-year-old Niles, Illinois native played 217 games for Bossier-Shreveport dating back to the 2006-07 season, ranking in the top ten in franchise history in game-winning goals (17) as well as assists (90) and points (150) by a forward. He also contributed 27 points in 33 career postseason games in purple and teal.
Basford, 21, joined the club as an amateur during the 2010 playoffs after completing a junior career in the Western Hockey League and British Columbia Hockey League. In his first professional action, he registered one assist in two games.
Kalinchuk, 25, appeared in 48 regular season games for the Mudbugs, totaling 17 points (5g, 12a), 93 penalty minutes and a +15 rating during his rookie season out of the University of Alabama-Huntsville. The Bowsman, Manitoba native added one assist and nine PIMs in eight playoff games as well.
Liebel, 27, notched five goals and 11 points in 19 games with Bossier-Shreveport before injuries forced him into early retirement in December. Plume, who turns 27 on Friday, played a critical role on the 'Bugs blueline throughout the season, finishing with eight points (1g, 7a) and a +13 rating in 38 regular season games. He then scored two goals and totaled 13 penalty minutes in eight playoff games.
