Sundogs Acquire Pair of Forwards, Deal Defensemen to Complete 2009-10 Trades

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Arizona Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro announced today the team has acquired forwards Joe Ori and Adam Basford from the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, completing a deal that sent forward Tyler Liebel to the Northern Conference club last August.

In other roster moves, the team has dealt defensemen Matt Hanson and Andrew Winnik to the Missouri Mavericks and Evan Shaw to the Mississippi RiverKings to finalize deals that brought Chad Hinz, Adam Smyth and Kevin Jarman to Arizona.

Ori, 28, tallied five goals, 13 assists, 31 penalty minutes (PIM) and a plus-6 rating in 38 regular season games with the Mudbugs in 2009-10 and added two goals, five assists and six PIM and was plus-1 in 11 contests during the 2010 CHL playoffs.

The 6-foot, 190-pound forward appeared in 217 regular season games with Bossier-Shreveport over four seasons, collecting 150 points (60g/90a), 175 PIM and a plus-36 rating.

The Niles, Illinois, native averaged nearly a point per game in the postseason while with the Mudbugs, netting 27 points (9g/18a) in 33 playoff contests and led the CHL in game-winning goals (10) in 2007-08.

Basford, 21, appeared in two postseason games with the Mudbugs during the 2010 playoffs recording one assist.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound rookie forward split his junior career between the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) and the Western Hockey League (WHL).

The native of Richmond, British Columbia skated for four seasons with the BCHL's Langley Hornets and Surrey Eagles, notching 57 goals, 83 assists and 124 PIM in 149 contests and suited up for the Vancouver Giants while skating in the WHL, tallying 28 points (13g/15a) and 36 PIM in 59 games.

Hanson, 27, appeared in 75 games with Arizona during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons, tallying six goals, 14 assists and 82 PIM. The 5-foot-11, 196-pound d-man recorded a career-high 60 PIM in 2009-10.

Winnik, 27, joined the Sundogs in January registering two goals, six assists and 16 PIM in 29 contests.

Shaw, 26, tallied one goal, eight assists and 62 PIM in 61 games with Arizona during the 2009-10 season.
