Budweiser Man of the Match: Matt Pickens Makes Massive Stop to Preserve Clean Sheet Streak

August 11, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Nashville SC News Release

NASHVILLE - Nashville SC goalkeeper Matt Pickens made a trio of saves, including one massive lunging stop in the first half, to preserve Nashville SC's five-match clean sheet streak in a 0-0 draw with Bethlehem Steel FC.

In the 24' minute, Bethlehem's Zach Zandi worked his way through the midfield and rifled a shot from outside the box towards the upper corner. Pickens leaped off of his line to punch the ball away. It was the most acrobatic of Pickens' three saves on the night.

Pickens and the Nashville SC back line kept a clean sheet for the fifth consecutive match. Dating back to the second half of the match against Louisville City FC on July 6, Nashville has maintained a clean sheet for 466 minutes, setting a club record.

Nashville SC hits the road next Saturday to face Charlotte Independence and will return home to face New York Red Bulls II on Wednesday, August 21. Tickets are available here for as low as $5.
