Bucks, Traylen Shut Out Bees, Win Third Straight Game

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League shutout the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 5-0 Tuesday night in front of 5,209 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center.

Bucks goaltender Dustin Traylen (9-3-1) picked up his third shutout of the season, setting aside all 25 Killer Bees shots. Traylen's three shutouts this season are one behind the Bucks single season record of four, set by David Guerrera in 2003-04.

The Bucks won their third straight game to improve their Southern Conference leading record to 14-3-1 (29 points).

The Bucks (8-1 at home) and Killer Bees were scoreless until the 17:47 mark of the first period, when Igor Agarunov took the puck from the left corner and sent a back-hander from the left side of the crease past Rio goaltender David Lemanowicz making it 1-0 Laredo. It was Agarunov's fourth goal of the year, and it was assisted by Rane Carnegie.

Rio outshot Laredo in the first period 11-9.

The Bucks increased their lead to 3-0 after two periods as they scored twice. Laredo made it 2-0 at the 5:29 mark as Tyler Harder scored his first professional goal, as he sent in a shot from right in front of Lemanowicz, off of a beautiful feed from the right circle from Steve Simoes. Jeff Bes also picked up an assist to re-take the CHL scoring lead.

The Bucks made it 3-0 at the 15:18 mark as Andrew Desjardins scored a short-handed goal, as he sent a backhander in off a rebound from the right side of Lemanowicz. Serge Dube and Adam Rivet picked up assists on the goal.

The Bucks outshot the Killer Bees (7-7-1) in the second period 10-6.

Laredo made it 4-0 at the 6:37 mark of the third period as Desjardins scored his second goal, this one on the power-play. Bes and Brent MacSween handedout the assists.

The Bucks increased their lead to 5-0 just 56 seconds later at the 7:33 mark as Jeff Genovy scored his second goal of the season from the left crease. Carnegie picked up his second assist of the night, along with Chris Korchinski.

Lemanowicz picked up the loss in net making 33 saves.

The Bucks and Bees will tangle again Friday night at the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo, game time is set for 7:35pm.
