
Bucks Take Two Of Three On Weekend

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Corpus Christi Ice Rays 6-3 Sunday afternoon at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Laredo took two out of three games over the weekend as they improve to 9-4-3 (21 points).
Jeff Bes scored two goals and handed out two assists, while Evan Schwabe (1-23) picked up three points to lead the Bucks to the win.
The Bucks struck first when they lit the lamp on the power-play 8:12 into the first period. Bes scored his first goal since November 6th, and his sixth of the year, when he hammered in a snap shot from the top of the right circle. Bes snapped his five-game pointless steak with the goal, which tied his Bucks career high.
Laredo outshot Corpus in the first period 15-4.
The Bucks are now 7-1-2 when scoring first, and 6-1 when they lead after one period this season.
The Bucks offense exploded for four goals in the second period as they took a 5-1 lead after 40 minutes.
Laredo increased their lead to 2-0 when they scored their second power-play goal of the game at the 9:28 mark of the second. Darryl Smith tipped in Mike Looby's shot from the point to score his seventh of the season, and his second in as many night's.
The Bucks (5-1-3 at home) made it 3-0 just 18 seconds later when Justin Styffe scored from the bottom of the left circle. The tally was Styffe's fourth of the season, and his third on home ice.
The Ice Rays cut the Bucks lead to 3-1 when Chad Woollard scored on the power-play 12:16 into the second. The goal was Woollard's seventh of the season.
Bes would put the Bucks up 4-1 with 3:09 left in the period when he poked in rebound at the right side of the crease. The strike was Bes' second of the game and his seventh of the season.
Evan Schwabe would cap the scoring in the second when he jammed in a backhander right in front of the crease with just 15.7 seconds left in the second period. Schwabe now has five goals on the season. Bes picked up an assist on Schwabe's goal, to move into 16-place in CHL history with 344 assists.
Ice Rays Head Coach Brent Hughes was ejected with three-minutes left in the second period for arguing a penalty against Corpus. Hughes was escorted off the ice by one of the linesmen.
Laredo outshot Corpus (7-8-2) in the second period 16-10.
The Ice Rays scored two straight goals in the third period to cut the Bucks lead to 5-3 with 12 minutes left in the game.
Justin Quenneville (1:33) and Ryan Garbutt (8:39) scored to cut into the Bucks lead.
Adam Rivet scored an empty-net goal from center ice with 47 seconds remaining in the game to put Laredo up 6-3. With the goal Rivet passed Brent Cullaton for fifth-place in Bucks history with 72 career goals, and tied Cullaton for fifth-place in Bucks history with 193 points.
J.P Levasseuer improved to 8-1-2 in net for Laredo as he stopped 23 of 26 shots.
Kevin Nastiuk suffered the loss in net for Corpus setting aside 26 of 31 Bucks shots.
Laredo outshot Corpus in the game 37-26.

**BUCKS WATCH PARTY AT HAL'S DEC. 2ND**

The Bucks will hold a watch party at Hal's Landing on Wednesday (Dec 2nd) when the Bucks are in Rio Grande Valley to take on the Bees at 7:35pm.
Hal's will offer drink specials during the party, which starts at 7:00pm. Bucks staff members will be on hand to give fans a chance to win prizes.
