AUSTIN, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League finish up their brief two-game road trip this afternoon as they travel to take on the Austin Ice Bats. Game time is set for 4pm.

After a hard-fought 4-2 win Saturday night in Rio, the Bucks have a quick turnaround as they play the first of eight games this season against the Ice Bats.

With a win today the Bucks will extend their season opening winning streak to nine games, and continue to build a lead in the Southeast division.

The Bucks went 1-1 against the Bats in the pre-season, losing 4-3 in Austin, and winning 3-2 in a shootout in College Station. Laredo played with out many of their key players, including Jeff Bes and Adam Rivet.

Last night in Hidalgo the Bucks fell behind in the first period and then battled back tying the game in the first, before scoring two in the second and adding an insurance goal in the third period. Bes scored the game-winning goal in the second period for the Bucks. Steve Simoes scored a goal, and handed out an assist, with Chris Korchinski picking up two assists. Dustin Traylen won his fifth straight game in net for the Bucks, stopping 23 of the Bees 25 shots.

Laredo has two players in the top 10 in scoring, and six players in the top 20. Bes leads the league with 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists), Korchinski is tied for third with 14 points (4 goals, 10 assists).

The Bats come into today playing their third game in less than 72 hours. Saturday night Austin lost at home to undefeated Youngstown 5-2. Jason Tessier and Ted Vandermeer scored goals for Austin.

Henry Kuster, Brandan Cook, and Tessier lead the Bats in scoring with eight points apiece. All three players have four goals and four assists.

After today the Bucks will be off until Friday, November 9th when they host Corpus Christi, then Youngstown on Saturday night.
