LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League look to get back in the win column today when they open a three-game homestand against the defending President's Cup Champion Colorado Eagles at the LEC. The Bucks could not hold a 2-0 lead and suffered a 3-2 loss Friday night in Rio Grande Valley, snapping their six-game winning streak.
Laredo not only lost the game, but also lost all-star goaltender Dustin Traylen to a groin injury in the third period. Traylen was helped off the ice with 13:32 left in the game, leaving Kevin Beech to finish the game in net.
Traylen's injury is not serious, and he is day to day.
The Bucks have brought in rookie goaltender John Ceci for a five-game tryout. Ceci, from King City, Ontario, was released by the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers on January 1st. Ceci started this season playing for Fresno (ECHL), but was traded to the Wranglers on November 28th. In seven games this season Ceci had a 3-2-2 record, with a 2.21 goals against average, and a .911 save percentage.
All-star defenseman Serge Dube, who took a hard hit in the boards in Friday's loss, is expected to be in the line-up today.
In Friday's loss the line of Jeff Bes, James Hiebert, and Anderew Desjardins accounted for all the Bucks points. Bes and Hiebert each tallied a goal and an assist, while Desjardins picked up two assists.
Laredo, who has now won seven of their last nine games, out shot the Killer Bees in Friday's loss 42-20.
Bes continues to lead the CHL in scoring with 52 points (21-31=52), while James Hiebert has 12 points in the Bucks last five games (5-7=12).
The Eagles come into today's game on a five-game winning streak, and have won seven of their last eight contests. Colorado has won the first three games of their four-game road trip, including a 3-2 overtime win in Rio Grande Valley last night.
Aaron Schneekloth scored the game-winning goal just one minute into the extra session to give the Eagles the come-from-behind win.
Colorado trailed 2-0 in the second period, and tied the game at 2-2 with just 1:26 left in the third period when Fraser Filipic knotted the score.
Schneekloth and Ed McGrane each scored a goal and handed out an assist in the win, while Marco Emond set aside 21 of 23 Bees shots in the net.
The Eagles outshot the Bees 56-23.
McGrane leads Colorado in scoring with 41 points (16-25=41), while Greg Pankewicz has 40 points (10-30=40) for the Eagles.
The Bucks lost to the Eagles 5-4 on November 17th at the Budweiser Events Center, with four different players scoring goals (Bes, Hiebert, Igor Agarunov, and Steve Simoes). Laredo came back from 3-0, and 4-1 deficit's to tie the game, before giving up a power-play goal to Dave Iannazo with just 4:14 left in the third period.
Today will be the first trip to the LEC for the Eagles since game five of last year's President's Cup Finals, when they beat the Bucks 4-0 to take a 3-2 lead in the series.
After today the Bucks will be off until next weekend January 11th and 12th when they host Arizona on Friday, and Bossier-Shreveport on Saturday on fan appreciation weekend.

**Bucks To Hold Press Conference January 7th ***
The Bucks will hold a press conference Monday, January 7th at 12:30pm at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The team will make an announcement regarding one of their long-time players. All media and fans are invited to hear the announcement, which will take place at the main entrance to the Arena.
**Fan Appreciation Weekend January 11th and 12**
Next weekend will be fan appreciation weekend. When you buy a ticket to the Friday January 11th game (vs. Arizona), you will receive a FREE ticket to the Saturday January 12th game (vs. Bossier-Shreveport).
