
Bucks clinch Atlantic Southern Division title

Houma, LaâOver the weekend the Bayou Bucks, the tri-parishes only professional sports franchise, made history by clinching the Atlantic Southern Division title and locking up the club's second consecutive playoff appearance in only its third season.
The Bayou Bucks accomplished this feat by shutting out the Waco Marshalls 74-0. The Bucks displayed dominance in all aspects of the contest, holding the Marshalls to only 1 yard of total offense while compiling 220 yards of their own.
Standing out for the Bucks was the consistent exceptional play of NIFL MVP candidate and Houma quarterback Doug Coleman, who completed 16 of 22 passes for 168 yards and 7 touchdowns. For the season, Coleman has totaled 2,425 yards passing for 59 scores.
Bucks receiver and Houma native Clint Schexnayder, caught 10 of Coleman's passes for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns. Receiver Kevin Heard added to his season total with 3 scores which put him at
32 touchdowns for the year.
The Bucks defense also proved to be dominating by sacking the Waco quarterback 4 times, recovering 7 fumbles, causing 2 safeties, and intercepting 2 passes.
Houma linebacker Lanard Mack was responsible for 5.5 total tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 1 forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries in which he converted to touchdowns.
The Bayou Bucks will be home again this Saturday to take on the Oklahoma Crude. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at any Ticketmaster location. The Bucks are also offering "Fun Four Packs" which include 4 tickets, 4 drinks, and 4 hotdogs for $40.00 in section "C" and $60.00 in section "B."

The Bucks current record is 10-2. This ties the franchise record for wins established in 2003.
Playoff tickets for the Bayou Bucks will go on sale July 3 at the Houma Terrebonne Civic Center. The NIFL playoff format is as follows:
Week 1: July 9-10 Conference Quarter-Finals
Week 2: July 17-18 Conference Semi-Finals
Week 3: July 23-24 Conference Finals
Week 4: Bye Week
Week 5: August 6-7 NIFL Championship Game
