
Bayou Belles help Habitat for Humanity

Houma, LaâThe 2004 Atlantic South Division Champion Bayou Bucks continued their service to the Tri-Parish community last month by having their award winning dance squad, the Bayou Belles, participate in the first annual "Mr. Habitat for Humanity Contest."
The contest took place on July 15 at the Cypress Columns in which twelve area businessmen competed in several events. The winner, Mr. Ricky Pontiff, was named Mr. Habitat and will serve as an ambassador for Habitat for Humanity in the Houma-Thibodaux area. Mr. Habitat will attend all house dedications and other events for the Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity.
The first annual event was considered a success by everyone in attendance. Going into the event Habitat for Humanity set a fundraising goal of $10,000, which was easily surpassed as the event raised $16,500. The proceeds will be used in for the construction of a Habitat house in the Bayou area.
