The Bucks got on the scoreboard early in the second period. While on the penalty kill Laredo got loose on a two-on-one shorthanded rush. Adam Rivet carried down the left side then fed the puck across to forward Ladislav Kouba who one-timed it home for his fifth of the year at 6:17. Later in the period the Bucks added to their advantage. Forward Hans Bensons hustled into the slot and picked up the puck, which he then snapped into the net with a wrist shot at 14:56 to make it 2-0. It was the first of the season for Benson.
The Bucks continued to add to their lead in the third. Forward Jeff Bes found Serge Dube, who dropped the puck to Adam Stefishen, who scored on a snap shot from the slot at 1:17 to make it 3-0. It was the third goal of the year for Stefishen. The Bucks then sealed the win on the power play as Bes cut down the slot, slipped a pass to the left circle to defenseman Phillippe Lauze, who sent it back across the goalmouth Kouba who was wide open for his second of the game on a slam dunk at 9:05 to finish the scoring. FINAL SCORE Laredo 4, Lubbock 1.
Grumet-Morris stopped all 29 shots he saw to pick up the win and the shutout in his Bucks debut. Former Bucks goalie Lance Leslie allowed four goals on 37 shots and took the loss for the Cotton Kings to fall to 5-5-1. The Bucks were 1-7 on the power play while Lubbock went 0-7. Laredo has stopped 46 of the last 50 opposition power play chances. Laredo out shot Lubbock 37-29.
