Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

The Ice Flyers were shutout in Louisiana 4-0 Saturday night. A scoreless game held up into the second period, but the IceGators would be the only team with points as AJ Bucchino blanked Pensacola for the second time this year. Despite five powerplays, the Ice Flyers came up empty-handed.

A total of 19 shots were fired in the first period, with eight of them coming off Pensacola sticks. None would find the net however, and the scoring wouldn?t start until the first two minutes of the second period.

Just 1:45 into the second frame Mike Ruberto found an opening and scored unassisted. The point would prove the game-winner, as AJ Bucchino stopped all 31 Ice Flyers? shots on the night.

The IceGators turned a close game into a blowout with three goals in the third period, two of them on powerplays. Tobias Karlsson scored with the help of Mike Omicioli and former Ice Flyer Trevor Karasiewicz at 2:52. CJ Tozzo used a man-advantage to sound the horn at 5:33 on a Mike Ruberto assist, and Igor Karlov scored on an empty net with the help of Drew Baker and Erik Kent just four seconds before the game ended.
