Regina SK ---- This afternoon the Regina Pats traded twenty-year-old forward Jonathan Bubnick to the Portland Winter Hawks in exchange for nineteen-year-old forward Garrett Festerling & a third round selection in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft.

Bubnick, was the Pats fourth leading scorer last season with 21 goals & 16 assists, while adding 24 penalty minutes in fifty-one games. Bubnick missed twenty-one games last season after suffering a knee injury in Cranbrook on November 20th.

Festerling, a product of Quesnel, BC, played in all 72 of Portland's regular season games last season totaling 14 goals & 20 assists, while adding 45 penalty minutes. Festerling, one of the top face-off centermen in the WHL is expected to see playing time in all situations under Head Coach, Curtis Hunt.

"This was a difficult trade to make because of the player that Jon is, but we felt comfortable doing it based on the fact that we are getting a player in return that has both a good skill level, and tremendous leadership qualities," commented Pats' GM Brent Parker.

"We feel that Garrett has the potential to score fifty points this season and should be a great twenty-year-old for us next year," added Parker.

Festerling is the second nineteen-year-old forward to join the Pats this off-season, with Shane Halifax being acquired from Portland last May.
