Austin Bruins News Release
AUSTIN, MN -ÃÂ In a loud and proud Riverside Arena, the Austin Bruins win their Home Opener by the final of 3-2.
The Bruins welcomed central division rival, the Minot Minotauros, to town Friday night, as the Bruins kick off their season at home. Hudson Hodges would get the start between the pipe for the Bruins, as the Moorhead, MN native is off to a strong start to the season. Hodges would keep things scoreless after 20 minutes of play after making a couple of big saves.
So far this season, the Bruins Power play has been strong and yet again proved just why as a shot from the point from Therien Thiesing would be redirected off the stick of Braidan Simmons-Fischer who was planted in front of the net of Minotauros net-minder, Zach Sandy. This would be the lone goal of the period as the Bruins would find themselves up by one to end the 2nd period of play at Riverside Arena.
The 3rd period would feature a back and forward affair as 1:08 into the 3rd period, Trevor Stachowiak would sneak one back Hodges to tie things up at 1-1. Things would continue to be up and down the ice until the Brassard Twins, Matys and Isaak, would set up a beautiful feed to Nick Catalano to give the Bruins back the lead at 2-1. That lead, however, would be short-lived as Caden Trigges would be fed a pass by Joe Westlund and Noah Roitman to tie things up at 2-2 while the 'Tauros were on a 5-3 PP.ÃÂ The hero of the night proved to be Marian Haborak, as the native of Bratislava, Slovakia, would score his first career NAHL goal which would prove to be the game-winner. Hodges would face 26 shots from Minotauros while stopping 24.
Both teams are back at it again tomorrow night as the Bruins celebrate First Responders Night at Riverside Arena. Tickets are available at AustinBruins.com or by visiting Hy-Vee in Austin. Puck drop set for 7:05pm.
