Austin Bruins News Release
After playing their first eight games away from Riverside Arena, the Austin Bruins finally return home for their home opener Friday night against the rival Bismarck Bobcats. The two teams also play Saturday night in Austin. The weekend marks the return of former Bruin forward Zach Kennedy, now a captain with the Bobcats. It's also a rematch of the 2016 Central Division Finals - a series in which Bismarck prevailed in five games.
Both games begin at 7:05. Friday night's opener is sponsored by Kaplan University. Kaplan will distribute can koozies to the first 500 fans in attendance. Tickets are on sale for $4 off the door price at Hy Vee, Jim's Marketplace, Games People Play, and the Holiday Inn.
The Bruins enter play 3-4-1 after splitting a series in South Dakota against the Brookings Blizzard and Aberdeen Wings last weekend. Seven of their next eight games are home.
