Brown Breaks Scoring Record
December 6, 2002 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
Fayetteville's Devin Brown, in just his third game as a Patriot after joining the team from the San Antonio Spurs, broke the National Basketball Development League's single game scoring record with 38 points in a 113-101 double-overtime loss to North Charleston. Brown was 14-of-27 from the floor and 10-of-12 from the free throw line. Just for good measure, he also gathered eight rebounds.
The previous single-game scoring record of 36 points belonged to a pair of Patriots, Terrell McIntyre and Greg Stempin (now with Huntsville). McIntyre scored his 36 against those same Lowgators on Feb. 8 of last season. Stempin's mark came against Columbus on March 22.
DON'T FORGET SED AND LARRY
Lost in the shuffle of the double overtime game and Brown's record setting night were a couple of outstanding performances from North Charleston Lowgators. Sedric Webber played 45 minutes and scored 34 points to lead the Lowgators to the win, hitting 12-of-25 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free throw line. Larry Reid came off the bench to pour in 29 points, hitting 12-of 16 field goal attempts.
LOWGATORS BREAK TEAM SCORING MARK?AGAIN
With 113 points in the victory at Fayetteville Thursday, North Charleston set the NBDL record for points in a game, breaking its own mark of 111 set in a victory over Columbus on Nov. 20. The Lowgators have now broken the century mark three times in 10 games and are averaging a league-leading 88.9 points per game. North Charleston (5-5) also leads the league in field goals made (333), field goals attempted (753) and steals (82).
WHO'S HOT?
Greenville and Mobile are the hottest teams in the NBDL. After starting 0-4, the Groove has won five consecutive games. Mobile has won four straight after an 0-2 start. Greenville hosts Columbus (4-4) Saturday, while Mobile entertains Asheville (5-4) Sunday.
WHO'S NOT?
The Fayetteville Patriots have lost three in a row and four of the last five games to drop to 3-6. Huntsville, currently in a first-place tie with Mobile, visits Fayetteville's Crown Center Saturday. The Patriots are currently 1-4 at home.
