Brooks Breaks AFL Single Season Kickoff Return Touchdown Record
August 1, 2015 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Portland Thunder News Release
PORTLAND - Portland Thunder WR/KR Duane Brooks (5-10, 185, Stephen F. Austin) has broken the Arena Football League record for kickoff return touchdowns in a season with his eighth runback, a 56 yard return coming at the 14:46 mark of the third quarter against the Las Vegas Outlaws Saturday evening.
"It's a surreal feeling to a part of an AFL record," Brooks stated. "It's great to see your name amongst other players, but I am still striving to set myself apart from them."
On the opening kickoff of the second half, Brooks broke through the scrum around the Portland 18 yard line, and carried two Outlaw defenders while stretching into the end-zone.
Duane has received two AFL awards in 2015, having been acknowledged as the J. Lewis Small "Playmaker of the Week" for his four touchdown (2 TD Rec, 2 KRTD) performance in Week 11 vs. LA KISS, and for his record tying 57 yard return against the Spokane Shock.
