New York Liberty News Release
BROOKLYN - The Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty, in partnership with Webull, the Official Online Brokerage Partner and Jersey Patch Partner of both teams, are expanding a financial literacy program aimed to empower the next generation through innovative financial education. The course, "Money Matters Presented by Webull," is powered by EVERFI from Blackbaud and introduces high school students to financial literacy basics through a series of modules about money management and financial concepts.
"Money Matters" is a first-of-its-kind program for Webull and is available for free to New York City Public High Schools. The seven-module course covers topics such as credit, borrowing, spending, saving, investing and other real-life lessons. During the 2022-23 school year, nearly 20 schools across New York City and Nassau County implemented the program with over 700 students completing the course. The Nets, Liberty and Webull hope to expand the curriculum to 30 schools in the coming school year, reaching more than 1,700 students.
"Connecting with students early to teach them financial education is a critical component of fostering equity in America and helps set the next generation up for success," said Catherine Carlson, BSE Global Executive Vice President of Global Partnerships. "As these students form habits that will impact their future financial decisions, the Nets and Liberty are proud to partner with Webull on a program that encourages them to explore new ways of thinking about money and their future."
"Increased access to innovative financial education is essential to empowering the next generation in their financial decision-making," said Anthony Denier, CEO of Webull. "We are proud to introduce 'Money Matters' to our local New York community as a part of our continued commitment to improving financial literacy for the next generation of investors."
