Aviators Week in Review: 11/14-11/21 Brooklyn went 2-1-0 last week to improve record to 5-3-3 on season

The Week That Was : The Brooklyn Aviators went 2-1-0 this past week to improve their record to 5-3-3 on the season.

On Wednesday night, Brooklyn traveled to Danbury to take on the Whalers for the second time this season at the Danbury Ice Arena. Round two went to the Whalers, who defeated the Aviators 3-1 on home ice in front of a crowd just short of 1,100. In his first game back for Danbury, after starting the season with their ECHL affiliate, the Elmira Jackals, Alec Kirschner scored two goals including the game winner to help lead Danbury over Brooklyn for the second straight time. Both goaltenders were brilliant for their respective clubs, but it was the Whalers' Nick Niedert who stole the show making 32 saves on 33 shots as he held the A's scoreless for 59:41 of play before surrendering a late goal. Steve Koich notched his first goal in a Brooklyn (3-3-3) jersey with 19 seconds left in regulation.

The Aviators rebounded nicely with a 5-3 win over the Cape Cod Bluefins on Friday night at the Aviator Sports and Events Center. Jesse Felten recorded a hat trick and Vladimir Nikiforov added a goal and three assists in Brooklyn's first victory on home ice this season. Tommy Lee stopped 40 of 43 shots to earn the victory for the Aviators (4-3-3).

The Brooklyn Aviators next home game is Nov. 23 against the 1000 Islands Privateers at 7:35 P.M. Great tickets are still on sale by calling 718-758-7580, or logging onto www.brooklynaviators.com.
