Broncos win rain shortened game against Edinburg

Laredo, TX-The Laredo Broncos got another big hit from Luany Sanchez as they beat the Edinburg Coyotes by the score of 4-0 in 5 innings on Tuesday night in Laredo at Veterans Field.. The Broncos continue their 6 game home stand when then start a 3 game series against the Harlingen WhiteWings on Thursday night. For more information you can call (956)-723-BASE (2273).

The Coyotes looked like they were going to take the early lead in the top of the 2nd inning against Broncos starter Sean Donlin. With one out Amado German singled and then went to 2nd on a single by Logan Wood. After a fly out, Angelo Fermin would single into right field. German would try to score from 2nd on the play, but Dwayne White threw a strike to catcher Luany Sanchez and they tagged out German to end the inning and keeping the score tied at 0.

The Broncos would get on the board in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Anthony Bennett started off the inning being hit by a pitch. Steven Wright then put down a sacrifice bunt moving Bennett to 2nd. Arnoldo Ponce then reached base on an error by 3rd baseman Mayobanex Santana which also allowed Bennett to move to 3rd. Dwayne White would follow with a rbi single scoring Bennett and advancing Ponce to 2nd. Then Luany Sanchez hit a 3 run home run, his 12 of the season. That would give the Broncos the 4-0 lead. With the home run, Sanchez has now hit a home run in 4 straight games.

The game was still 4-0 in the bottom of the 5th inning, when Luany Sanchez tripled. After that the game was called due to rain and the Broncos picked up the rain shorten victory by a score of 4-0.

Sean Donlin picked up the victory going 5 innings and giving up 0 runs. He allowed 7 hits, walked 1 and struck out 5.

The Broncos scored 4 runs on 3 hits and committed 1 error, while the Coyotes scored 0 runs on 7 hits and committed 2 errors.

The Broncos now are back to the .500 mark at 24-24 on the season. The Broncos will be back in action on Thursday night when they play game 1 of a 3 game set against the Harlingen WhiteWings at Veterans Field at 7:35.
