Both starting pitchers were sharp thru the first 3 innings. Coyotes starter Miguel Martinez only allowed 2 base runners in his first 4 innings of work. Andy Schon, the starter for the Broncos matched Martinez as he also had allowed only 2 base runners thru his 3 innings of work. However, unlike Martinez, Schon ran into trouble in the 4th.

Daryl Jones led off the inning with a single and then stole 2nd base. With 1 out, Brandon McConnell would hit an infield single putting runners on 1st and 2nd. With Eric Gonzalez batting, Luany Sanchez tried picking off McConnell at 1st but the throw went into right field which allowed the runners to advance to 2nd and 3rd. Gonzalez would then hit a sacrifice fly scoring Jones and giving the Coyotes the lead 1-0.

The Broncos would threaten in the 5th inning when Ben Tinius drew a lead off walk and then Ivan Reyes singled. Eric Padilla would hit a sacrifice bunt moving the runners to 2nd and 3rd. But Martinez would get Anthony Bennett and Steven Wright to strike out and Edinburg kept their 1 run lead.

The game would remain 1-0 till the bottom of the 7th inning when Schon ran into trouble again. Amado German started off with a double. The next batter Alex Entrekin was hit by a pitch. Angelo Fermin then laid down a sacrifice bunt that Schon tried to get the lead runner out at 3rd, but Ben Tinius dropped the ball allowing everyone to be safe. Schon would then walk Robert Matlock which would force in German from 3rd. Schon would then get Daryl Jones to strike out. That would be it for Schon as David Wasylak came in. Wasylak would get Argelis Nunez to hit into a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning. The Coyotes would have a 2-0 lead.

Schon pitched a great game despite being in line for the loss. He went 6 1/3 innings giving up 2 runs, 0 of which were earned on 8 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 10 batters. Miguel Martinez would leave the game after 7 innings for the Coyotes as Luke Prihoda would come in.

With 2 away in the Broncos 8th inning Luany Sanchez doubled. He then went to 3rd on a wild pitch by Prihoda. Edgard Clemente then hit a rbi single scoring Sanchez and cutting the lead in half to 2-1.

David Wasylak would pitch a scoreless 8th inning as the Broncos trailed by 1 run heading into the 9th inning. They would have to do their damage against closer Julio Castro.

Ben Tinius would lead off the 9th inning with a single. Matt Lawman would come in and pinch run for him. Lawman would steal 2nd with Ivan Reyes batting to be in scoring position. Reyes would then hit a pop up on the infield that was dropped by catcher Alex Entrekin, which allowed Reyes to be safe at 1st with Lawman still 2nd. Eric Padilla would lay down a perfect sacrifice bunt to advance the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Anthony Bennett hit a ball to 1st baseman Daryl Jones who tried to get Lawman at home. The throw to the plate was wide which allowed Lawman to score to tie the game. Reyes went to 3rd on the play and Bennett was safe at 1st. Josue Gonzalez would pinch hit for Steven Wright and strike out, Bennett stole 2nd on the strikeout pitch. Arnoldo Ponce would come up and hit a 2 run double scoring both Reyes and Bennett. The next batter Luany Sanchez was hit by the pitch, and that was it for Julio Castro, as John Maschino came in.

Wasylak would stay in the game to start the 9th inning looking for the win. Angelo Fermin would lead off with a single and go to 2nd on a walk to Robert Matlock. Daryl Jones then put down a bunt where Wasylak tried to get Fermin at 3rd, but Padilla's foot never touched the bag, so the bases were loaded with no one out. Argelis Nunez would fly out to left field for the 1st out. The next batter Brandon McConnell would strike out. Eric Gonzalez would then hit a pop up that landed in fair territory but he never left the box, Reyes picked it up and tagged first for the 3rd out, as the Broncos won the game by a score of 4-2.

The Broncos scored 4 runs on 7 hits and committed 2 errors, while the Coyotes scored 2 runs on 9 hits and committed 2 errors.

The Broncos improve to 29-29 on the season. The Broncos will be back in action on Sunday night when they play game 2 of a 2 game set against the Edinburg Coyotes at 7:05.
