Bristol White Sox News Release

The Bristol White Sox will compete with Minor League Baseball teams across the country in an electronic food fight, featuring the Grand Slam Pie made popular at the ballpark last summer, and downtown at Rhythm & Roots last fall.

The Sox were the only Appalachian League team chosen to participate in this contest, which will feature 64 concession items from teams all across the nation. The Sox and the Grand Slam Pie will compete for the next two weeks with 15 other teams in the Local Legends category, with the winner of that category competing in early June against the tops in three other categories to be the 2013 MiLB Food Fight champion.

Fan votes will determine the winner, and Sox fans and all Bristolians can do their part to help the hometown team win by voting as frequently as they wish.

We are honored and excited to be selected by Minor League Baseball and to have our signature concession item picked to compete, stated Sox General Manager Mahlon Luttrell. We hope all our fans will vote and support us as much as they can as we compete with teams in larger classifications from across the country. This is really a great chance for everyone in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee to show the whole country the kind of fans we have here.

Fans can vote for the tasty corn chip, chili and cheese concoction, with all the fixings, by pointing their web browser to http://atmilb.com/18H4v6U.

Fans can also vote on Twitter by using the hashtag #foodfight and including the Sox handle @BristolSox. Fans can also follow the Sox on Twitter @BristolSox and retweet the team tweets with that information.
