Bristol White Sox News Release

Bristol Baseball, Inc. (BBI), operator of the Bristol White Sox professional baseball team, recently dedicated and renamed the concession and souvenir stands at Boyce Cox Field.

The souvenir stand, also known as the Sox Box, was dedicated in honor of Dotty Cox. Cox, who has worked many long hours in the Sox Box, has served as treasurer of BBI and sat on its board, for 30 years.

Mahlon Luttrell, President of BBI, noted that "Dotty has been a huge asset to Bristol Baseball and the Bristol Sox. Her 30 years of service as a board member has been greatly appreciated and we definitely look forward to another 30 years."

The second dedication was for the concession stand at Boyce Cox Field. The concession stand was dedicated in honor of Fred and Brenda Scott. The concession stand has been operated by the Virginia High School Athletic Boosters, led by Fred Scott for the past 37 years. Although they will no longer operate the concession stand during Sox and Virginia High baseball games, the Scotts plan to continue operating the concession stand at Virginia High basketball games, where they will serve their locally famous hot dogs and popcorn. The Virginia High School Band Boosters will operate the concession stand, and BBI will offer additional concessions options to fans during the upcoming 2013 season.

The dedications were well received by Cox and the Scotts. With the dedications, the Sox Box now will be referred to both as the Sox Box and as the Dotty Cox Souvenir Stand, and the concession stand will be referred to as the Fred and Brenda Scott Concession Stand.

"Bristol Baseball, Inc. and the Bristol Sox appreciate the hard work and effort put forth by Mrs. Cox and the Scotts, and the dedications of the concession stand and the souvenir stand were more than deserving for these individuals," Luttrell added.

The first Sox home game will be on Sunday, June 23 against the Kingsport Mets. For more information about the Sox, and for ticket information, visit BristolSox.com.
