Rochester Brigade News Release

(Rochester, NY)- For the first time in the 2002 season, Rochester Brigade head coach/general manager Mark Saunders will take his troops on the road for competition.

"I'm looking forward to the first road contest," commented Coach Saunders. "Usually there aren't as many distractions on the road... gives the guys the opportunity to bond and build team chemistry."

This Saturday, April 27, the Brigade (1-2) will battle the first place Albany Conquest (3-0) for the second "NYS Lottery af2 Cup" this season. The Conquest conquered Rochester 42-36 in their first meeting to claim the "Cup," but the Brigade is looking for revenge. The two teams will battle at the Pepsi Arena in Albany, NY for a 7:30 kick-off.

"This is a very important game for us, with a win we can bring Albany back to the pack," proclaimed Coach Saunders.

The Brigade will have defensive specialist Vonkeith Spencer back in the lineup after sitting out last week's game with a sore hamstring. On the season, Spencer leads the team with two interceptions and has racked up nine tackles (seven solo).

"We had some breakdowns in the secondary that burned us last week...this week we have Vonkeith (DS Vonkeith Spencer) back in the lineup, who should help us tremendously with his experience," stated Coach Saunders.

The Brigade will return to the Blue Cross Arena for a pair of home contests among divisional opponents on May 3, against the New Haven Ninjas and May 10, against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers. Good seats are still available for both games! To get your tickets call the Brigade office at 585-292-1530, or check out the team website at www.rochesterbrigade.com.
