Rochester Brigade News Release
(Rochester, NY)- Yesterday, the Rochester Brigade visited the Blessed Sacrament Church to lend a helping hand. In the spirit of the holidays, head coach Mark Saunders and the Brigade staff volunteered their time serving food to those who are less fortunate.
This event was established in memory of Tom Parson for his dedication to helping the homeless. Kim Thompson gathers a team of volunteers to help serve food to those facing hardships every second Tuesday of each month. In addition to Kim's efforts, people have also made donations to the soup kitchen in honor of Tom, enabling the Blessed Sacrament soup kitchen to serve 50 to 100 homeless a night from Sunday through Friday.
The players and staff of the Brigade feel honored to participate in this activity. Being capable enough to serve food in others' times of misfortune makes everybody ponder thought of how blessed they truly are.
Coach, Mark Saunders commented, "I think this is a great opportunity for the players to help give back to the community... it really puts their jobs in perspective and how fortunate they are to play professional sports."
The Brigade and Coach Saunders will continue their gift of good deeds on Wednesday December 11, from noon to 1:00 pm as they participate in the Pirate Toy Drive on East Avenue in front of the channel 10 NBC studios. The annual event was established to encourage people to pull up and drop off toys for children throughout holiday season you can drop gifts off at the East Avenue location until 7:00 pm tonight or at area Chase Pitkin stores until December 15.
