Rochester Brigade News Release


(Rochester, NY)-Rochester Brigade head coach and general manager Mark Saunders announced that he has been assigned DS Mark Herron and OL/DL Brandon Jackson from the arenafootball2 league office.

Herron, 6-0, 182, played his collegiate football at the University of Toledo, appearing in 42 games with 36 starts to total 310 career tackles (176 solo), 5.5 for a loss of yards, three fumble recoveries, six forced fumbles, 32 pass breakups and eight interceptions. During his senior season, in 1996, he started in all eleven games, registering four interceptions and 102 tackles to lead the MAC Conference and the Rockets. Herron was named First Team All-MAC.

Herron has experience in the AFL, most recently with the Grand Rapids Rampage, where he played in one pre-season game in 2002. While with the Rampage, Herron registered 2.5 tackles and one pass defended before being released. He was also in the Buffalo Destroyers AFL training camp in 2001, where he played in two games and registered four tackles (three solo) and one fumble recovery.

Jackson, 6-3, 300, played his collegiate football at the University of Kentucky, where he redshirted his freshman year in 1994 and later started all eleven games as a Right Guard his sophomore season in 1995. That season he blocked for the SEC's top running back, Moe Williams, who registered 1,600 yards on 294 carries and 17 touchdowns.

The Rochester Brigade plays their final home game of the regular season this Saturday, June 29, against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers. The pre-game party starts at 6:00 pm with the kickoff slated for 7:30 pm.
