August 31, 2016 - Atlantic League (AtL)
Bridgeport Bluefish News Release
Bridgeport, Conn- Bridgeport Bluefish team officials today announced that they have formally offered former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow a contract to play for the team during the 2016 season.
"The Bluefish welcome Tim with open arms," said Bluefish General Manager Jamie Toole. "The Atlantic League is all about giving players opportunity, and we think Bridgeport would be a great place for him to begin his professional baseball career."
Tebow, the former professional football player, played three seasons in the NFL with the Denver Broncos and New York Jets. He recently announced his desire to play professional baseball and was given the opportunity to participate in a workout with MLB scouts earlier this week. During his workout with over 40 scouts from 28 Major League clubs, he hit five home runs in batting practice and recorded an "above average" time in the 60-yard dash. Tim focused on showcasing his outfield skills during the workout, and also faced live pitching from former Major Leaguers David Aardsma and Chad Smith.
Tim Tebow will be called up to the Bridgeport Bluefish roster, effective immediately upon his acceptance and contract signing.
