Auburn, NY - The Auburn Doubledays of the New York-Penn League, Single-A Short Season affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are pleased to announce that Brian Rhodes has been selected the 2015 New York-Penn League Groundskeeper of the Year.

Rhodes, an Auburn native, just completed his fourth season as the Head Groundskeeper at Falcon Park. He has been employed by the City of Auburn for a total of seven years.

Falcon Park hosted 38 Doubledays home games this season, plus numerous amateur baseball games and tournaments, including the eight-team NCAA Division III Baseball Regional Tournament in May. The Auburn High School varsity baseball team also played its entire home slate at Falcon Park in April and May.

"Our sincere congratulations go out to Brian on a job well done," said Doubledays General Manager Mike Voutsinas. "He and his crew work tirelessly to get the field and stadium ready each and every day and it is very exciting to see him recognized with this award."

In addition to overseeing the maintenance of the playing surface, Rhodes is also responsible for the overall upkeep of Falcon Park and this past off-season led a crew that replaced the entire outfield wall, a project that was completed in less than two weeks.

"I'd like to thank the New York-Penn League for selecting me to receive this honor," said Rhodes. "I'd also like to thank the City of Auburn, the Doubledays, my crew, and my family for their support. This award would not be possible without them."

Rhodes is now eligible to be selected by the Sports Turf Managers Association as the Short Season/Rookie Sports Turf Manager of the Year, an award that will be presented at the Baseball Winter Meetings in Nashville this December.
