Helena Brewers News Release
The Helena Brewers announced today that Nestor Corredor will manage the ball club in 2016.
Corredor replaces Tony Diggs who will serve as the Milwaukee Brewers outfield roving instructor in the spring and manage the Arizona League Brewers in the summer.
Corredor played seven professional Minor League seasons with the Brewers from 2002-2008. He played in Helena in 2004 as a catcher and returned in 2008 as a pitcher.
Corredor managed six seasons with both Rookie Dominican Summer League Brewers (2010-2012) and Arizona Brewers (2013-2015). His overall managerial record is 168-206 (.449).
"Helena is a special place to me as it was where I made my first professional baseball experience as a player in the US. And to be going back there as a manager means a lot," said Corredor. "I'm very excited to be the Helena Brewers Manager, and I look forward to giving every effort to bring a consistently competitive team, while developing our prospects at this foundational level."
Joining Corredor will be three new faces: Mark Dewey, Pitching Coach; Liu Rodriguez, Hitting Coach; and Reggie Williams, Coach.
Dewey enters his 5th year in the Brewers organization. During that span, he worked two seasons as Pitching Coach in Brevard County (2012-2013) and two seasons as a roving instructor (2014-2015). Dewey spent six seasons in the Major Leagues with San Francisco, New York Mets, and Pittsburgh.
Rodriguez spent seven years in the Major Leagues with the White Sox organization as a middle infielder. In 2015, he worked as a coach in the Brewers Class A affiliate Wisconsin (Appleton). 2016 will be his second year working with Milwaukee.
Williams comes to Helena for his seventh season with the Brewers organization. He worked as a baserunning/outfield roving instructor (2010-2013). The last two years, he coached with Class A affiliate, Brevard County (2014-2015). He played four seasons in the Major Leagues with Los Angeles Dodgers and Cleveland.
"Nestor will lead a staff consisting of three members that have Major League playing experience," said Farm Director, Tom Flanagan. "The Pioneer League is often the landing spot for first year players, and Nestor and the staff possess the right mix of abilities and backgrounds to foster the development process for the young players as well as provide a great foundation for their success."
The Brewers also announced Jeff Bodenhamer will serve as Trainer and Alistair Matthews will work as Strength and Conditioning Coach in 2016.
