Brevard County Manatees News Release

VIERA, Fla. - For the second straight night, a three-run sixth inning was just enough offense for the Brevard County Manatees as they topped the first place Dunedin Blue Jays, 4-3 on Friday night at Space Coast Stadium.

Brevard County (12-9) jumped on Dunedin (14-7) starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez early with a run in the first inning - one that proved to be crucial to the win - as Nick Ramirez drove in Chadwin Stang with a one-out single.

Once Sanchez settled down, he allowed just one base runner between the second inning and the fifth inning. His leadoff walk to Nick Ramirez in the sixth though brought an end his evening.

Cameron Garfield greeted reliever Tyler Ybarra with a first-pitch triple that scored Ramirez, marking the second three-bagger of the game for the Manatees after Yadiel Rivera went tripled in the fourth.

Back-to-back walks to Brandon Macias, who was put on intentionally, and Rivera loaded the bases for Lance Roenicke. Roenicke brought one run in with a sacrifice fly and allowed Macias to move to third. Macias then scored what would be the eventual game winning run on a passed ball.

With the 'Tees leading 4-0, Tommy Toledo entered the game in the eighth inning with runners on first and second with just one out and had no trouble getting out of the frame. However, he would have more trouble in the ninth when he issued a walk and consecutive singles to load the bases.

Seth Harvey came on and allowed a quick two-run single to Nick Baligod to make it a 4-2 game. Jon Berti followed with another RBI single and then a fly out to right enabled Baligod, who represented the tying run, to advance to third. Harvey would leave him stranded at third as he forced Andy Burns to fly out to center to end the game. For Harvey, it was his second save in as many nights and fifth of the season.

Drew Gagnon (1-2, 7.36) turned in his best performance of the season as he went 5.1 scoreless frames for his first victory of 2013. He allowed only two hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

Brevard County will go for the three-game sweep of the first place Blue Jays on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

The Manatees will send Brooks Hall (2-1, 2.01) to the hill, while Dunedin will counter with 2011 American League All-Star Ricky Romero. The Blue Jays southpaw will be making his first start of the season since being optioned to the minors by Toronto following the end of spring training.
