Breast Cancer Awareness Game Saturday
October 15, 2012 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
P.E.I. Rocket News Release
The PEI Rocket game Saturday night at the Charlottetown Civic Center is about more than the two points the Rocket and Sherbrooke Phoenix are playing for. The Atlantic Chapter of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation will also be a winner as it will receive a portion of the proceeds from the game.
The Rocket organization will be donating $5 from each ticket sold, to the cause, but the most unique part of the night is in the jerseys the home team will be wearing. In honour of those fighting breast cancer and those who have fought the disease in the past, the players will wear pink jerseys that will be given away as part of a raffle after the game. Proceeds from the raffle tickets are also going to the Foundation. To add to the atmosphere in the building, all fans are asked to dress in pink.
Rocket Vice-president of Operations, Trent Birt, says, "This is a special night for everyone in attendance and one we look forward to each year. I am sure everyone in the building, from the players to the fans, knows someone that has been affected by this awful disease. When our guys pull on their pink jerseys, they have extra motivation as they play in honour of these people. We play to win the two points every night but this Saturday night we are also playing in support of a great cause. I am confident that we will have a bigger than normal crowd as fans come out to share in this support!"
Game tickets can be purchased through the Civic Center Box Office by dropping by, calling 629-6625 during Box Office hours, or on-line at www.civiccentre.pe.ca . Box Office hours are Monday to Friday 11 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 11 am to game time. Jersey raffle tickets can be purchased at any CIBC location, in the Rocket office or during Wednesday night's game against the Halifax Mooseheads or Saturday night's game.
Change Bibeau's Mask
Last month, the PEI Rocket allowed the public to put a new name on their team for next year. Goalie Antoine Bibeau liked the idea getting the community engaged so he is now extending a special invitation of his own.
Bibeau has a new goalie mask waiting to be decaled and he wants Rocket fans to help him with the designing process. Any fan that wants the opportunity to see his/her design every time Bibeau is on the ice, is invited to submit their design/ideas by email or fax. Send all e-mails to admin@peirocket.com and fax submissions to 902-892-7350.
The person with the winning entry will receive two adult tickets and two youth tickets to the game in which Bibeau reveals his mask. After the game, this person will also have the chance to meet Bibeau.
Submissions will only be accepted before Thursday, October 18th at 5:00pm.
