Boston Breakers News Release
The 2010 WPS Draft will take place next Friday, January 15th at the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Annual Convention in Philadelphia, and the Boston Breakers have the second and eleventh picks in the first round of the draft.
The draft will begin at 10am. Be sure to follow the Breakers on Twitter for live draft updates throughout the day, and then check back with BostonBreakers.com later on for a full team draft recap.
The 2010 WPS Draft consists of seven rounds and 65 picks overall. The first round has 11 selections as the 2010 expansion teams, the Atlanta Beat and the Philadelphia Independence, originally received two picks each in the first round. In late September, the Breakers swapped forward Amy Rodriguez along with the #5 overall selection in the first round with the Philadelphia Independence for both of their first round picks (#2 and #11). The Breakers also have one selection in the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th rounds. The Breakers announced today that they have traded their 3rd round pick in the 2010 WPS Draft to the Los Angeles Sol for the negotiating rights to Spanish forward Laura Del Rio, who is currently playing for Frankfurt in Germany.
