Breakers Have Chance to Set Records Wednesday Against Philadelphia

The Boston Breakers (4-5-4) look to set a franchise record Wednesday night at home against the Philadelphia Independence, seeking to extend their unbeaten streak to a record six games.

With Sunday's 2-2 draw with the Western New York Flash, the Breakers tied a team record of five straight games without a loss. They have a record of 2-0-3 in their last five games. Boston's other five-game unbeaten streak stretched from July 25-Aug. 15, 2010, when the team went 4-0-1.

History could also be rewritten in goal as Boston keeper Alyssa Naeher needs just one save to set a franchise record for saves in a season. Naeher set the mark last year with 69 saves.

Defenders Rachel Buehler, Amy LePeilbet, and Stephanie Cox are expected to make their first appearance Wednesday night with the Breakers since returning with the U.S. National Team from the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany.

Women's World Cup champion Aya Sameshima of Japan is also rostered for the game. The defender played every minute of every match at the World Cup. logging 600 minutes in a combined six games, which included extra time victories over Germany and the U.S.
