Boston Breakers News Release

After picking up three hard-earned points on the road and jumping to third place, the Boston Breakers head home to take on the Washington Freedom for the last match-up of a four game series at Harvard Stadium on Saturday, July 31 at 6 p.m.

Boston has won four of their last five games and head into this weekend's match riding a wave of confidence after scoring three goals in a five-minute span against Chicago last Sunday in a 3-1 victory over the Red Stars. The Freedom, on the other hand, are on an eight-game winless streak, their most recent defeat coming against FC Gold Pride to whom they fell to 4-1 on July 24. However, Washington takes on Atlanta this Wednesday night, and will fight for the chance to jump ahead of Boston in the standings.

Boston currently leads the season series against Washington 2-0-1. The teams faced-off at Harvard Stadium two weeks ago on July 18, when goals from Jordan Angeli and Liz Bogus lead Boston to a 2-1 win.

Tickets for Saturday night's game are available online or at the Harvard Box Office on Saturday. The first 500 fans into stadium will receive a free Leslie Osborne trading card presented by Stonyfield Farm.

Breakers Sport Pink in Support of Breast Cancer

This Saturday's match kicks off PUMA's Project Pink, an initiative that will strive to raise awareness and funds in support of the fight against Breast Cancer. Saturday will be the first of five WPS matches in which players will be outfitted in special Project Pink kits.

The pink jerseys that the Breakers wear out on the pitch will be auctioned off during the game in the main concourse with 100% of the proceeds going to the Boston Chapter of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of the American Cancer Society.

The Breakers would also like to thank and recognize Foxboro-based We Got Soccer for providing all screening and lettering of Saturday's Project Pink Kits as part of their commitment to fighting breast cancer.

The Breakers encourage fans to get online after the game and visit the Project Pink forum where starting on August 7 they can nominate and vote for their favorite breast cancer charities with nonprofit status. The winner will receive a donation consisting of 100% of the profits from the sale of PUMA Project Pink product. The Breakers will be nominating Boston's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and encouraging their fans to vote for this amazing organization that is helping to create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays.

A new line of Puma Project Pink merchandise will also be on sale at the merchandise tent throughout the remainder of the season or can be purchased soon at the Breakers online store.
