October 28, 2013 - North American Soccer League (NASL) News Release

MIAMI, Fla. (October 28, 2013) - Brazilian forward Pablo Campos scored twice and assisted on the third goal of the game to lead Minnesota United FC to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Fort Lauderdale Strikers among the international player highlights this past weekend during NASL Week 13 action.

Campos, who played with the San Antonio Scorpions in 2012 and was the league's top scorer prior to coming to Minnesota, currently leads all United players with 11 goals this season. That puts him third in the race for this year's NASL Golden Boot, just one behind forwards Hans Denissen of Scorpions and Georgi Hristov of Tampa Bay Rowdies and two shy of leader Brian Shriver of the Carolina RailHawks.

Eleven of the 14 goals scored during this past weekend's encounters came from NASL international stars as Colombian midfielder Carlos Salazar had the only goal for the Strikers in the loss to United on Saturday. Jamaican forward Nicholas Addlery and Uganda native defender Henry Kalungi each added a strike to help the host Carolina RailHawks to a 4-0 win over the Spring Season winner Atlanta Silverbacks.

Crucially on Saturday, goals by Bulgarian forward Stefan Dimitrov and Spanish midfielder Marcos Senna gave the visiting New York Cosmos a 2-1 come-from-behind win over the Scorpions which saw them capture the Fall Season title and a berth at NASL Soccer Bowl 2013. Polish forward Tomasz Zahorski had given the Scorpions the lead early on with his ninth tally of the season.

On Sunday, Northern Ireland native forward Daryl Fordyce and English midfielder Robert Garrett scored for FC Edmonton in a 2-1 triumph over the visiting Rowdies. English midfielder Luke Mulholland notched his tenth goal of the season in the loss for Tampa Bay.

Every Monday throughout the 2013 Fall Season, t he North American Soccer League (NASL) will put its international stars - both coaches & players - under the 'NASL International Spotlight' focusing on the league's overseas connections.
