Birmingham Barons News Release

BIRMINGHAM, AL – Adam Wainwright and a trio of relievers three-hit the Birmingham Barons en route to a 6-0 victory in front of 4,362 fans at the Hoover Met on Sunday evening. Tetsu Yofu got a no decision but pitched well in his first start in ten days.

Wainwright (10-8) and Yofu matched each other through five innings giving up just two hits each and keeping the opposition off the scoreboard. Yofu exited the game after the fifth, giving up just the two runs and striking out six G-Braves, in order to reserve his energies for the playoffs. With Greenville out of the playoff picture, Wainwright was able to go more inning than Yofu and struck seven Barons.

Greenville got on the board in the sixth on an RBI double by Cory Aldridge off of reliever Kris McWhirter and later put up a four spot in the eighth and a single tally in the ninth against McWhirter (3-8) and Jason Stumm.

Bryan Digby, Roman Colon, and Kevin Barry pitched the final three innings and only allowed a combined two base runners on a hit and a walk to preserve the shutout for Greenville.

The regular season finale is set for tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 PM with the Barons sending out RHP Carlos Castillo (3-1, 4.13) to face RHP Daniel Curtis (5-4, 3.07). All the action can be heard on 101.1 FM "The Source" with Curt Bloom on the play-by-play.
