Worcester Bravehearts News Release
Worcester, MA - The Worcester Bravehearts pulled back to .500 on Thursday Night with a 9-3 victory over the Vermont Lake Monsters. Tayven Kelly (Penn State) highlighted the win with a 2-2 performance, recording a home run, three RBI and two runs scored. He was also hit by two pitches. After the Bravehearts win, both teams go to 9-9 on the season.
Worcester struck first in the fourth Inning, delivering five runs on five hits. Kelley started the scoring, coming home on a wild pitch. Sebastian Salado (Palm Beach Atlantic) and Zach DeMattio (Wheaton) both drove in a run in the inning, and Nick Martin followed with a two-run single.
Vermont responded in the top of the fifth Inning with three runs off of Braveheart's starting pitcher Max Leblanc (Umass Amherst). The Bravehearts got all three runs back in the sixth, after Kelley's two-run home run and a solo shot off of the bat of Salado.
Former Saint Peter Marian Guardian and Charlton native Jared Kapurch (St. Petersburg) got the win for Worcester going 1.1 innings allowing zero runs and two hits. Randy Flores (Franklin Pierce) also came up big for the Bravehearts, going 2-4 with a run scored.
The Bravehearts travel to Norwich, CT to face the Sea Unicorns tomorrow, Friday June 18th. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm at Dodd Stadium.
