Worcester Bravehearts News Release
Worcester, MA - After taking two games in a double-header sweep against the Westfield Starfires, the Bravehearts could not close the season out with a win as they took a 10-2 loss against the Brockton Rox.
It was Worcester who got the scoring going early. After three straight singles, Chris Rinaldi grounded into a double play to score Nick Martin to give Worcester the early lead.
Brockton answered in the bottom of the first. Tommy Kretzler singled and advanced to third on an Eddy Hart double. Gabe Gioso grounded out to score Kretzler and tie the game at one. Kretzler came up big again in the third inning with a solo home run to give Brockton the lead.
Three more runs were put on the board in the fourth for Brockton. Marc Goulart and Kretlzer singled, and Eddy Hart quickly hit them home with a three run home run to increase the lead to 5-1.
The Rox were able to jump to an ever bigger lead in the sixth. Mike Sabatine singled and Kretlzer once again did damage with a two run home run. Hart singled and proceeded to score on a BJ Murray single. Murray advanced to third on an error by the right fielder John Thrasher which allowed Hart to score. A sac-fly by Gaby Cruz scored BJ Murray. JP Knight singled and was pinch run for by Anthony Marra. Nick Shumski doubled and scored Marra to give Brockton a 10-1 lead.
The Bravehearts scored another run in the eighth on a double by Joe Pesce followed with a base hit by Chris Rinaldi brining the score to 10-2. That would be all Worcester could get as they would fall 10-2.
With the loss, Worcester will have a home game tomorrow at 7 pm against the Pittsfield Suns.
