Brampton A's Re-Sign First Ever Franchise Draft Pick

September 30, 2014 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) - Orangeville A's News Release

The Brampton A's are pleased to announce the return of their franchise's first ever NBL Canada draft pick, Brent Jennings. After taking time off to be home with his family, Jennings returned to the team after the new year and became an integral part of the A's success.

Jennings caught his stride late in the year, as his minutes improved so did his defence and ultimately his confidence. He had been picking up momentum and the feel of the pro game at the NBL Canada level.

As the season progressed Jennings reception to constructive development from his coaches translated on the defensive end of his game, making him the go to specialist for stopping opponents offensively.

GM/Head Coach David Magley , "I have never seen anyone more dedicated to improvement than Brent this summer.  His daily summer schedule consisted of; an hour of one-on-one shooting with former assistant Joe Cook, 1.5 hours working on skill development, 1.5 hours on strength and conditioning, 2 hours on film review with the coaches, and finish with a full court scrimmage. I honestly had to make him take days off because he was that determined to improve, and improve he did. He was a dominant player in virtually every summer league and tournament that he participated in. He will be looked upon for big things this season."

The A's will kick off their season October 21st, with a "Toonie Tuesday" pre-season game at home, where fans will get in for just $2. The regular season starts as the A's host its Peel rival, the Mississauga Power, Saturday November 1st, 7pm at the Powerade Centre.
