NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (July 30)- The Texas Brahmas will look to 'pierce' their opponents next season as they announced the resigning of forward Matt Pierce for the 2010-2011 campaign Friday afternoon. Pierce made an immediate impact to the Brahmas last season following a trade from Mississippi on February 12, finishing with 17 points (10 G, 7 A) in 19 regular season games with Texas. The Arnprior, ONT native's best game came against Laredo when Pierce recorded his first career hat trick to lead the Brahmas over the Bucks 5-2 at the NYTEX Sports Centre. His contribution to the playoff drive came in the form of two goals and two assists in six games.
The 25-year old forward had 21 points (7 G, 14 A) in 39 games with the RiverKings before joining the Brahmas last season. Pierce recorded 36 points (15 G, 21 A) for Mississippi and finished with a +14 in 62 games for the RiverKings in 2008-09. Prior to playing in the Central Hockey League (CHL) he played a pivotal role with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) in winning a championship. Pierce tallied 22 goals with the Ice Bears, second most on the team roster and collected a pair of goals and an assist in the 2007-08 playoffs.
