Brahmas Down Bugs Behind Big Third Period

The Shreveport Mudbugs (5-2) gave up four unanswered goals and fell to the Lone Star Brahmas, 4-2 at the Nytex Sports Centre Friday night.

SHV and LSB were scoreless after a penalty-filled opening period. The Brahmas led in SOG, 7-1 after one.

The Bugs broke through at 4:29 of the second period as Andrej Paricka tipped home his first goal of the season as he crashed the net to give his team a 1-0 edge. Lucas Deeb and Wil Murphy earned the assists on the game's first goal. SHV added another tally at 15:35 as Colin Vassallo came in w/ space and rattled home his second goal of the campaign to extend the Bugs' lead to 2-0. Kyan Haldenby and Logan Heroux picked up the helpers. LSB fought back and got one really late at 18:39 as Brock James redirected in his first to make it a 2-1 contest. LSB led in SOG, 12-5 after two.

The late period goal jump-started the Brahmas as they netted the game-tying goal at 1:13 of the third period as David Skuhrovec snapped in his first goal through the slot evening the score, 2-2. LSB then would go ahead at 12:53 as Bryce Ingles sledged a shot past Carson Dorfman to give the Brahmas their first lead of the night at 3-2. Then just 20 seconds later, the Brahmas would score another as Matyas Borak banged in his third goal of the campaign to extend the lead to 4-2.

The Bugs and Brahmas will conclude their two-game series tomorrow night from the Nytex Sports Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
