Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, Mich. - Lumberjacks forward Jake Braccini lit the lamp twice as the Muskegon Lumberjacks have won their fifth game in a row, defeating Team USA U17 by a final score of 4-to-1 on Friday, Dec. 10 from Mercy Health Arena in downtown Muskegon. Jacob Guevin and Ben Strinden scored for Muskegon as well, with U17's Aram Minnetian notching his first career goal in a Team USA uniform. Platon Zadorozhnyy, recently named USHL goaltender of the week, stopped 20 pucks in the win for Muskegon.
1st Period
With NHL Hall of Famer Chris Chelios in the building, the Lumberjacks wasted no time in getting to work as defenseman Jacob Guevin scored the game's first goal just 49 seconds into the contest. Guevin's third of the season was assisted by Jack Williams and Phil Tresca to give Muskegon the 1-to-0 lead.
Ben Strinden would double the Lumberjack lead at 4:47 of the first period to make it a 2-to-0 game. Strinden's 10th goal of the season was helped by Jeremiah Slavin and Joey Larson.
At 6:36, Jake Braccini extended the Muskegon lead to 3-to-0, notching his seventh lamplighter of the season. Nick Peluso and Jacob Guevin scored assists on the play.
However, Team USA would get one back while on the power play from Aram Minnetian at 11:22 of the first period. Will Smith earned the lone assist to make it a 3-to-1 lead, still in favor of Muskegon.
After one period of action, the Lumberjacks controlled a 3-to-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
2nd Period
Both teams had plenty of scoring opportunities in the middle frame, but no one was able to beat the opposition goaltenders in the second period.
Through 40 minutes of action, the Jacks continued to pilot a 3-to-1 lead over Team USA U17.
3rd Period
As the game settled in more, Jake Braccini scored his second goal of the game for Muskegon at 7:46 of the final period. Braccini's eighth goal of the season was assisted by Parker Lindauer to increase the Lumberjack lead to 4-to-1.
In the end, Muskegon cruised to a 4-to-1 victory over Team USA U17 by a final score of 4-to-1.
