Moncton Magic News Release
The Moncton Magic hosted the Halifax Hurricanes Tuesday night for game three of the Atlantic Division Finals. The first two went to the Hurricanes while at home in Nova Scotia. The Winner of this series will go on to play the Central Division champions, currently being decided between the London Lightening and St John's Edge.
Halifax entered with some notable momentum coming off a blowout at home, where they managed to maintain almost 55% shooting throughout. Moncton of course looked to use the home court advantage on Tuesday to take the win and create some momentum of their own going into game four, where they will also defend the Coliseum.
After a well fought 1st the Magic landed +1, 24-23; the second then began with some serious heat from the home team creating a 13-0 run, and ending 47-41. Moncton then up went seven more, and held that lead to a 107-96 victory over the visiting Hurricanes.
Tuesdays win came from the same place as the first series over Saint John, quick feet and a fluid offense. Despite playing without their captain and oftentimes offensive director, Al Stewart, Moncton was able to mount an impressive attack and reach a 50% shooting average.
Anthony Anderson was named the Magic's Player of the Game for having a hand in countless key offensive plays. To put a number on it, he had a 14-assist 18-point double-double.
Also in double range was Juan Pattillo who topped the overall box score with 31 points and 19 rebounds. Next up were Terry Thomas and Jeremy Williams with 18 and 14 points respectively, the former with 7 rebounds and 2 assists as well.
Halifax was led by some impressive play by Billy White, Mike Poole, Antoine Mason, and Tyrone Watson; in that order they put up 21, 18,17, and 16 respectively for the visiting Hurricanes.
This series will stay in NB to play game four at the Moncton Coliseum, which will tip off at 7:00 pm, Thursday the 26th before returning to the Scotiabank Centre for game five. If required these teams will then rotate playing one more in Moncton, then the last again in Halifax.
