Boston Burned by Buffalo in 12-10 Defeat
Boston, MA (March 12, 2011) The Boston Blazers traveled to the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, NY Saturday evening to challenge the Buffalo Bandits for a second time in less than a week. Despite a tight back and forth battle, the Blazers dropped their second straight game losing 12-10 and remain in third place in the East.
Scoring began early as Blazers Ryan Powell knocked in the first point of the night off assists from Nick Cotter and Kevin Buchanan but the Bandits Tracey Kelusky quickly countered on a power play opportunity to tie it up, 1-1. Blazers Casey Powell recorded two goals in the first along with Jamie Rooney to bring Boston up 4-2 at the end of the quarter.
The Bandits began their comeback as John Tavares led the charge with two straight goals along with an unassisted point by Mark Steenhuis causing the Blazers to pull goaltender Anthony Cosmo for Nick Rose who would remain in goal for the remainder of the game.
Moving into the second half behind by one goal, Boston's Josh Sanderson tied the score up at the 3:16 mark in the third quarter off assists from Powell and Dan Dawson. Rooney would then make a diving power play goal that brought the Blazers back up by one to make it 8-7.
