Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA (August 4, 2008)- BattleWings WR Chavis McCollister made history and SportCenter's 'Top Ten Plays of the Weekend' when he returned three consecutive kickoffs for touchdowns(a new af2 Playoff Record) Saturday night vs. the Lubbock Renegades in Round 1 of af2 Playoffs. McCollister's heroics earned him the #3 spot in ESPN's Sportcenter's 'Top Ten Plays of the Weekend", two weeks after the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz ranked 9th on the elite list with a last second hail mary touchdown over the Tulsa Talons.

The BattleWings' front office and fans were excited about the nation-wide attention given to Chavis and the organization. Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings owner Dan Newman said "I was excited for everyone in the 'BattleWings' Nation' for the arena football game, af2, the BattleWings, and Chavis McCollister to be acknowledged on ESPN SportsCenter. Such recognition by the largest sports media power in the world only further accentuates the place at the sports table that af2 now holds. For the BattleWings organization to be honored for our team's accomplishments during a game makes me button-busting proud! Congratulations af2, BattleWings' coaches, staff, players, and fans, and congratulations to Chavis McCollister!"

The BattleWings will host the Amarillo Dusters this Saturday at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City in the National Conference Semi-Finals. Kickoff is at 7:00 PM.
