October 4, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Dayton Bombers News Release
Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers head coach Bill McDonald announced today the signing of rookie forward Brett Connolly for the 2008-09 season. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Connolly, a 22-year-old native of Pickering, Ontario, joins the Bombers after a season with the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, where he had 13 points (4g,9a) and 35 PIM in 27 games.
"Spending my first professional season in Dayton is a great opportunity," Connolly said. "I'm a power-forward type, so I'm looking to have a presence on the ice and adding some goals."
Prior to his collegiate season Connolly was a member of the 2007 Royal Bank Cup champion Aurora Tigers as the best Canadian junior hockey team. He picked up 8 goals and 4 assists during the regular season and an additional 18 points (7g,11a) in the post-season.
"Brett is the type of guy we're looking for - big, aggressive," McDonald said. "He skates well and will contribute offensively."
Connolly also skated three seasons from 2004-2006 with the OPJHL's Pickering Panthers, where he had 97 points (47g,50a) in 83 games. He was named South Conference Player of the Month in October 2006 with the Panthers. Connolly also played two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League between Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie and Mississauga.
