Bombers Rained Out

July 1, 2012 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Dubois County Bombers News Release

HUNTINGBURG, Ind. - Sunday's Dubois County Bombers vs. Terre Haute Rex matchup was cancelled due to inclement weather. It has yet to be determined whether the game will be made up and, if so, when.

The Bombers finish the first half of the 2012 season at 20-9 and in possession of the Western Division's first-half title. They were at the top of the Prospect League all season, and only the West Virginia Miners finished ahead of Dubois County with a record of 21-9.

Unfortunately, shortstop Frank Rawdow will not spend the second half with the Bombers. He broke several bones in his hand sliding into second base in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Rex in Terre Haute, Ind.

He joins Eloy Barela, Adam Guinn and David Jesch on the list of players who are no longer Bombers for various reasons.

Sunday's rainout did carry a hint of optimism: Perhaps Dubois County and the City of Huntingburg will find the drought conditions improved enough to allow the Bombers to set off fireworks following their 7:15 home games against the Hannibal Cavemen July 3 and 4.

That would be a great way to cap off what are sure to be two great nights at League Stadium. The band "The Boys Are Back" is already scheduled to play after each game, and there will be a beer garden as well.
